HAI HAI HELLOOOO, ALLL. In this blog, i will shared my stories during Saint Mary's Way. A few months ago, my school, Santa Maria, launched an exciting new initiative called Saint Mary's Way. The core idea of this program was to encourage us, the students, to actively practice Santa Maria's values in our real lives, moving beyond just memorization. We were tasked with choosing a service assignment, with options ranging from being an altar server or joining neighborhood prayer groups to singing in the choir or doing social work at nursing homes and orphanages.
Honestly, I was immediately drawn to the choir assignment. I've always loved music, especially singing in a choir, and the feeling of blending voices into a beautiful harmony is something I find truly exciting. So, I decided to take on the choir duty as my commitment for the Saint Mary's Way program.

Coincidentally, the program schedule perfectly aligned with my community's choir duties, featuring two major events during the program period. The first was a wedding choir duty on September 27, 2025, at Kamuning Church, followed by the Ordinary Sunday Mass XXVI choir duty on September 28, 2025, at Melania. Two consecutive days—it was going to be tiring, but thrilling!
The preparation for these two assignments was quite intense. On September 24, 2025, just before the wedding, I had a special rehearsal. This day was particularly exhausting. I had spent the whole day on a school outing. Imagine the physical tiredness—I barely had time to rest after school before rushing off to Kamuning Church for practice. I just wanted to lie down, but I had made a commitment. Despite the fatigue, I forced myself to focus and give my best, knowing this was for a sacred event.
The next day, September 25, 2025, we had another rehearsal, this time for the Ordinary Sunday Mass. This practice felt much different—it was happier and less tense. A moment truly shocked and thrilled me: I was chosen as the soloist for the song “Persembahan Kecilku” (My Small Offering). My emotions were mixed! I was obviously nervous, but also so proud that the conductor trusted my voice. This moment gave me a huge boost of confidence and spirit; I promised myself I would deliver the best performance on the day.
Wedding Duty at Kamuning (September 27, 2025)
Finally, the day of the wedding duty arrived. Upon reaching Kamuning Church, we were all a little surprised to find out the couple was from Papua. The church atmosphere was incredibly lively and festive, unlike usual. Everyone looked joyful and warm. We were immediately swept up by the atmosphere of pure happiness. The songs we performed were serious yet melodically beautiful wedding pieces, including:

Menyambut Sakramen Perkawinan (Welcoming the Sacrament of Matrimony)
Ku Bersimpuh (I Kneel Down)
Cinta Berlapis Cadar (Love Layered in a Veil)
Ave Maria Gounoud (A classic that required extreme caution and precision)
Ingatlah Selalu (Always Remember)
We all felt a deep sense of satisfaction for having accompanied their sacred vows with beautiful music. It truly felt like a meaningful service.
Ordinary Sunday Mass at Melania (September 28, 2025)
The next day, September 28, 2025, I had duty again, this time for the Ordinary Sunday Mass XXVI at Melania. Compared to the formal wedding duty, this assignment felt much more relaxed and lighter. The songs were more familiar and easier to perform. The choir atmosphere was more vibrant; we sang with smiles because the songs were so enjoyable. The songs we performed that day included:
Andaikan Aku Pahami (If I Understood)
Persembahan Kecilku (My Small Offering) – This is where I sang the solo, nerve-wracking but worth it!
Di Pulau Samadi (On the Island of Meditation)
Tuhan Kami Tidak Pantas (Lord, We Are Not Worthy)
Tuhan Yesus Kah Hadir Kini (Is the Lord Jesus Present Now)
Peziarah Pengharapan (Pilgrim of Hope)
Tuhan, Kau Gembala Kami (Lord, You Are Our Shepherd)
I felt relieved after successfully completing two consecutive days of choir duty. We had managed to make the Mass more beautiful.

Overall, the Saint Mary's Way program has inspired me to continue being a good and caring person. It has affirmed my passion for choir, and now I know that a hobby can be transformed into an incredible form of service. I am truly glad I was able to participate in this program.
Thank you for reading my rather long story! Bye for now!
